An air and land search was carried out by Police last night (Tuesday) following a road traffic collision near Cowes.
Dog units on the ground were supported by the National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth in the search for the driver of a black Honda Civic, after the vehicle came to rest on its roof at the bottom of Pallance Road near the junction with Rew Street.
Island Echo understands the driver made off from the scene, resulting in the helicopter spending some time circling the Thorness area. It is currently unknown if the suspect was located.
No other vehicles are thought to have been involved in the incident, which occurred at around 23:20.
