The Cowes-based charity Storeroom2010 has been announced as a winner of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Using furniture donated by Island residents, Storeroom2010 is able to offer a good variety of items, at competitive prices, to those who are less fortunate, enabling all to make their living space into a home.
Later this year the charity will receive a signed certificate from Her Majesty The Queen, to be presented locally by the Lord Lieutenant for the Isle of Wight. They will also receive a commemorative English Crystal with the logo insignia.
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service was created in 2002 to mark the occasion of Her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee, recognising excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community. It is the MBE for volunteer groups.
Storeroom’s volunteers are a superb team, giving their time free to help keep Storeroom open to everyone on the Isle of Wight.
