STOLEN CAR BURNT OUT IN COWES

carfirecowesFirefighters extinguished a car fire in Cowes during the early hours of this morning (Friday) after the vehicle was stolen from an 80-year-old and set alight.

Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to Arctic Road, Cowes at around 04:35 after 999 reports were received of a car well alight.

Island Echo understands the vehicle, a Fiat 500, was stolen from an elderly man living in the Sylvan Avenue area of East Cowes before it was torched on the other side of the River Medina.

Police are investigating the incident.
