Holy Trinity Church in Bembridge hosted Phoenix Choir’s last concert of the season last Saturday (26th October), with a standing ovation bringing to an end their rememberable performance.
A large and enthusiastic audience were treated to a wide variety of songs including ‘Band Of Brothers’, ‘Orinoco Flow’, ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ and ‘Those Were The Days’.
Soloists were Pat Attrill with ‘Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone’, Gwen Stevens with ‘Gladiator’, Ian Attrill with ‘City Of New Orleans’ and Elizabeth Habens with ‘Vilia.
The appreciative audience demanded an encore for which Phoenix sang ‘The Battle Hymn Of The Republic’ which resulted in a standing ovation.
The evening raised a total of £1,300 in aid of the restoration of some of the church’s windows and their surrounding stonework.
This was the last Phoenix concert of 2019 but they will be back to start their 2020 concert season at All Saints’ Church, Newchurch in April.
