Past and present Mayors of Shanklin joined trustees and volunteers from Shanklin Theatre to present a framed certificate and birthday cake to the cast of ‘Beyond the West End’ on the 10th anniversary of the summer show. 

Spotlight IOW members have performed Shanklin Theatre’s summer season show for the past 10 years, from ‘Best of the West End’ through to the 2019 offering ‘Beyond The West End’, featuring past and present hits from popular musicals and shows, capturing magical moments and movie memories, as well as humourous highlights such as the Full Monty.

Shanklin Mayor’s Steve Knight said:

“Jayne and the cast of the show have entertained thousands of visitors and residents over the last 10 years, as well as providing opportunities for local talent, and they are a credit to Shanklin and all involved with the Theatre”.

Spotlight IOW are also responsible for the Christmas Panto – Aladdin for 2019 – alongside dance and drama workshops and working with First Act.

Former Mayors John Fleming, Denyse Larner and Jon Gilbey added:

“The whole cast and crew has brought family-friendly foot-tapping fun to audiences across the years and across the generations, and every year the show gets better and better”.

The 4 Mayors, who have all served the town since 2009, presented Jayne Derbyshire with a certificate, a special 10th anniversary cake and a celebratory bottle of champagne.

Steve concluded:

“Congratulations to all involved with Beyond the West End, and we all look forward to the next 10 years and BEYOND!”.
