The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has taken to social media to express their disappointment at vandalism which took place at the Wroxall attraction overnight.
Name magnets that are placed on the sanctuary’s ‘heard board’ are said to have been taken, with 1 set on fire and discarded in a donkey pen.
A spokesperson for the charity has said:
“We have spent a lot of time and hard work trying to improve the site, adding new boards, new information and new signage. We are very proud of what we have created and have loved hearing the feedback we have received about these from our visitors and how much they are being enjoyed.
” These [name magnets] all come at a cost to us, and we would all prefer to be spending that money on the donkeys themselves.
“We do not understand why anyone would choose to do this, it is very upsetting and has an obvious impact on the safety of our donkeys. If anyone has any information about this we would all really appreciate if you could let us know”.
I would love to get hold of the low life who have done this. How dare they think this is acceptable. Skanks.
I don’t think they think it is acceptable, Sunshine, in fact the opposite. They do it because it is not acceptable as they are going through the process of ‘rebelling’ against order and discipline and the normal mores of society. Why it is getting worse is because young people are losing any sort of moral compass because older people won’t speak out about what is anti-social and wrong in case they are seen as being ‘judgemental’. Lots of things about modern life are complex. This issue is actually very simple.
Scumbags why on earth do something so awful the Donkey Sanctuary does a wonderful job rescuing these beautiful animals.
Usual excuses will roll out if or when they are caught ….Nothing to do bad times family problems etc etc …
Tough we all have problems in life but we don’t go out and destroy thing’s ,or do you even realise how much damage or injury to the donkeys may have caused????

Just what is going on on this Island? Destruction everywhere reported almost every day, There is no respect for property, people or animals..
What does it take to stop the scum of human life destroying this naturally beautiful Island? The little we have in the way of Police and emergency services must be in despair, the law as it stands is no deterrent.
