Local photographer Sienna Anderson has been recognised on the national stage after being selected as the winner of the ‘Birds in Flight’ category of this year’s Bird Photographer of the Year competition.
Sienna, whose work can often be seen shared on the Island Echo Facebook page, captured the winning photo of a Egret at Hersey Nature Reverse in Seaview.
Earlier this year the stunning photo was shortlisted from a total of 1,200 entries by competition organisers, the British Trust for Ornithology.
The award was presented by Peter Antoniou of Swarovski Optik and TV personality Chris Packham. Sienna received a pair of Swarovski CL Companion 8×30 binoculars worth £800.
Speaking after yesterday’s awards ceremony at the Rutland Bird Fair, Sienna said:
“I am absolutely delighted to have won my category in the BTO BPOTY Award. I have worked incredibly hard but my patience and love for my photography has certainly paid off.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supports me”.
