Karen Mennie from Shanklin has been celebrated for her outstanding dedication and passion at Southampton City College’s annual Oscar-style awards event.
The event celebrated the College’s outstanding talent by recognising over 40 students and apprentices with over 200 people in attendance.
Karen was recognised for her work whilst studying BA (Hons) in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy. She was praised for giving her all to the course while also supporting and contributing to other year groups. This was done by giving other students talks on clinical placements, course promotion, and engaging positively with industry sectors in the counselling profession.
The awards evening gives current students ample opportunity to show off their skills to the public as they get involved in the running of the event. Media students took care of filming, catering and hospitality students prepared and served food and technical theatre students ensured the stage was set. Performing arts students also performed to guests during the evening under a theme of Wicked the Musical.
City College Principal Sarah Stannard said:
“We are immensely proud of Karen who has truly excelled in her course. The awards ceremony celebrates individuals who have achieved outstanding things while here at the college.”
