Savvy shoppers in Shanklin have raised a staggering £5,902 for The Friends of Shanklin Theatre through the Co-Op’s Local Causes initiative.
Each time a Co-Op customer uses their membership card at the tills 1% of the transaction total goes towards charities in the local area.
Over the past 12 months a total of £17,140.57 has been raised by those shopping at the Landguard store in Shanklin. 3 charities are now benefitting from the monies raised including Daisy Chains IW, Rylstone Chalet Restoration and The Friends of Shanklin Theatre.
The Friends will be putting the money towards restoring the theatre’s windows.
Michael Beston of The Friends of Shanklin Theatre has said:
“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has shopped locally at Landguard Road Co-Op and supported this very worthy cause!
“Our thanks also goes to to the brilliant team at our local Co-op, led by Julie and Simon, for working with us over the last year”.
