The town of Shanklin is celebrating a ‘staycation success’ following a recent survey which has concluded that Shanklin sees more sun, on average, than its rivals.
The study from Marbles.co.uk has also examined the prices of taxis, number of attractions, the number of fish and chip shops and even a beach rating score to locate the best option for seaside staycations in the UK this year.
Mayor Jon Gilbey has said:
“Shanklin is delighted with this announcement and it reflects the efforts our local businesses, accommodation providers and the Town Council make to ensure our visitors, and residents, have a high quality experience when visiting the Shanklin”.
Shanklin recently invested in the renovation of Tower Cottage and Falcon Cross Toilets, as well as securing South East England In Bloom and Seaside Award Standards, with significant investment in Carnival, Regatta and Tourist events.
Jon added:
“The staycation success highlights the investment made by the Town Council, other statutory agencies and the Business Community, and we will continue to support the services and activities the Town offers within the resources we have – for example, we are working with partners to ensure that Sunshine recording facilities remain in Shanklin, for the benefit of the Town and the Island”.
“This recognition reflects on all involved, from the volunteers at the Theatre and Green Towns, to the Businesses that go the extra mile to make Shanklin the Tourist destination that it is – thanks to all involved in making Shanklin the place that it is”.
