Shanklin are celebrating their success in the South East England In Bloom Awards, winning not only the best Coastal Community of its size for the region, but a Silver Gilt Award overall.
The judges highlighted the contribution made to the by Shanklin Green Town volunteers, the work of Shanklin in Bloom, partnerships with local schools and the local youth centre. They also highlighted Shanklin Chine, the War Memorial, Tower Cottage, Rylstone Gardens, local churches, the British Legion and other features of the town.
Shanklin’s Mayor, Steve Knight said:
“This award is a credit to all involved in making the Town such an attractive place for visitors and residents alike.
‘The Town continues to punch above its weight regionally and nationally, and this award further reflects the investment made by the Town Council in partnership with our local Community – this recognition is a credit to all involved”.
