A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, but Police are yet to locate the alleged female victim.
Officers are trying to trace a woman who they believe was the victim of a sexual assault that occurred in The Veteran Pub on Ryde Esplanade last night (Saturday).
Police were alerted to the incident by a member of pub staff who saw a man grab the woman over her clothes.
Officers were deployed to the incident but when they arrived, the woman had left the pub.
A 29-year-old man from Lake has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has been released under investigation.
Were you in the pub between 19:30 and 20:30 last night? If you this was you or you have any information about this incident, call Police on 101 quoting 44250181524.
How can they arrest someone for sexual assault when they don’t even know who was supposed to have been sexually assaulted?
And if the “victim” is found..
I am all in favour of doing everything possible to address sexual assault but this rather appears to be the police going looking for trouble rather than addressing the crime which is actually reported. Without a victim it is going to be very difficult if not impossible to prove. Meanwhile, you now have a man with an arrest on his record for a crime no one has complained of.
Who in their right mind would
go to a pub in Ryde.
Me for one. Especially if I was safe in the knowledge that you wouldn’t be there!
