A serious assault at an address in Shanklin has left a man with facial injuries and another with a neck injury, with Police establishing crime scene across 2 Isle of Wight towns.
Police say they were called at 05:54 this morning (Saturday) to a report of an altercation involving 2 men at an address off Victoria Avenue, Shanklin.
Officers attended the scene and discovered a man in his 40s with serious facial injuries – but the second man had already fled the scene.
Immediate enquiries led Police to an address on High Street in Brading, where a man was subsequently found with an injury to his neck.
Blood is still evident on the pavement outside the address, which has been cordoned off.
Island Echo understands a car was seized from a nearby car park.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that both men have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been taken to hospital.
A 36-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and aggravated burglary. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
A 40-year-old man from Shanklin has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in hospital.
An investigation has been launched as officers work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Was the Ryde man committing a burglary and the Shanklin man was protecting himself? (stabbed/slashed the intruder’s neck) but he is also charged with GBH with intent. Or perhaps it was a drugs related incident/fight. Be interesting to hear more facts about this.
Hope the pavement gets cleaned. Recently watched ‘Crime Scene Cleaners’. In the USA they’re out disinfecting pavement etc. The bus station here has had a grotty looking old blood stain for ages. Not nice.
