UPDATED: Homes and businesses in Ryde have been hit by a power cut this afternoon (Monday), the second within the past week.
Over 170 postcode areas are listed as being affected by the network issue in PO33 2 and PO33 3. Power was lost at 14:48.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Network engineers are working to resolve the issue and expect power to be restored by 16:45.
Last Wednesday hundreds of properties across the town lost power.
UPDATE @ 15:01 – Power has been quickly restored to some customers, however 78 postcodes in Binstead remain without electricity.
Motorists are advised that the traffic lights at Queens Road/Pelhurst Road are not currently working.
UPDATE @ 15:57 – SSEN say that the majority of customers have now had power restored, with aims to have everyone reconnected by 17:15.
UPDATE @ 16:13 – A spokesperson for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks has confirmed that 2,000 properties were affected by this afternoon’s outage.
“At 14:12 today Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) was alerted to a power cut in the Binstead and Ryde areas of the Isle of Wight.
“Engineers discovered a fault on the line that had caused a fuse to blow. The fuse was replaced and all 2,000 customers affected by the fault were back on supply by 15:09.
“SSEN would like to apologise for any inconvenience this interruption caused and thanks its customers for their patience while it worked to safely restore their supply.”
