An Isle of Wight woman is set to take on a 70-mile sponsored walk as part of her fundraising campaign to purchase of an emergency defibrillator for her local community.
Sheran Brown, of Seaview, is looking to raise enough funds to purchase the life-saving device in memory of a dear friend, who died after a cardiac episode last year.
The money is being raised on behalf of The Seagrove Pavilion Trust. It is intended that the machine will be sited at the Pavilion on Seagrove Farm Road, which is regularly used by Seaview Football Club, as well as many other local groups and community events including the annual Seaview Regatta.
The entire surrounding community will be able to access the machine 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency occurring.
As part of the fundraising efforts, Sheran will be undertaking a 70-mile sponsored walk around the Isle of Wight this coming April.
Speaking about the campaign, Mrs Brown has said:
“I am extremely grateful to all those that have helped already and for the support I have received from the local community. I hope I can achieve my target and honour the memory of my dear friend in this way”.
All donations made will go directly to the Seagrove Pavilion Trust. If you would like to make a donation then visit https://www.gofundme.com/seagrove-pavillion-aed-purchase.
