The Isle of Wight Round Table annual Sleigh Runs, in association with WightFibre, have raised £5,134 for 2 Island charities this year.
Round Table volunteers accompanied Santa through 14 towns and villages. They also visited Vecta House Care Home, The Way Forward Project and entered the Newport Christmas Carnival, spreading festive fun along the way.
Santa also popped into The Anchor in Cowes, The Bargeman’s Rest and The Correo Lounge in Newport.
Half of the monies collected along the way have been donated to The Daisy Ring Bus. This is a local charity which has taken over from the original Daisy buses that transport Island patients to Southampton Hospital and the QA hospital in Portsmouth.
The other half was donated to Daisychains IW, which is an Island charity supporting Island children and their families.
Mike Blake, Chairman of The Round Table, says:
“Without the generous help of our partners WightFibre, we would not have been able to raise this fantastic sum of money or have put so many smiles on children’s faces. A huge thanks also must go to the public who have given us the donations along the way”
Deon Redpath, Marketing Director at WightFibre, adds:
“We’re very happy to have made a difference to these worthwhile causes.”
