UPDATED: Ryde Inshore Rescue have launched to assist a vessel off Ryde Sands at the request of Solent Coastguard tonight (Saturday).
The independent lifeboat was tasked at around 20:40, thought to be in connection with a boat that ran aground at the entrance to Ryde Harbour earlier today.
The crew of Ryde Rescue 1 are conducting a search of the area.
UPDATE @ 21:54 – The yacht ‘Serenity’ has been found moored alongside a pontoon in Ryde Harbour, following an initial fear that the vessel was in distress on the Solent.
2 crew members on board the leisure yacht have been taken to Ryde Rescue’s boathouse to recover from the effects of the cold. The vessel has suffered from a mechanical failure.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are also now on scene and are providing safety advice to the duo.
Ryde Rescue 1 has been successfully recovered at Ryde Harbour and is being rehoused.
