A Ryde man who sent indecent and offensive messages to his ex-partner via Facebook, including saying that she would always be the village bike, has pleaded guilty to a communications offence.
Alistair Calvert, 27, of Bettesworth Road, admitted his guilt to a charge of sending a communication/article of an indecent/offensive nature when he appeared in court last Friday (27th January).
Magistrates heard from the Crown Prosecution Service that on 27th October last year, Calvert had sent a number of messages to his ex-partner via Facebook Messenger over a 2-hour period. The messages were so offensive that Island Echo will not repeat the content of some of them.
Calvert told the victim that she would “always be the village bike” and “I hope you die young of cancer”. These messages came just a short while after the victim’s father had died.
In a victim impact statement, which was read out in court, it was said:
“As a result I have zero confidence. I feel that not only am I failing as a mother but at life. I feel sad and lonely”.
The court heard that Calvert was drunk when the messages were sent to the mother of his children.
Defending, Henry Farley told the bench that his client fully acknowledged what he had done, which had occurred during a low period. Mr Farley said that Calvert is extremely ashamed and offers no excuses or justification for his behaviour. Mr Farley added that his client wants the relationship to continue in a mature and responsible manner.
The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be compiled with Alistair Calvert due back before Magistrates on 24th February.

Strange how women seem to always fall for ‘this type’ and have their children, which often grow up as vile as the sperm provider, as they are not ‘Father’s’ in the real sense of the word, so unwittingly creating more such clones to ensure the same occurs for the next generation
And likely the whole lot all bought up on tax credits, free rent, c.tax
No wonder the UK is where it is.
Yep. Morons meeting morons and breeding morons. The UK is derelict and penniless because of this.
