A 36-year-old man from Ryde has been charged with drink driving after being caught ordering a late night snack in McDonald’s drive-thru.
Concerns were raised about the occupants of a vehicle using McDonald’s drive-thru in Ryde during the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday.
Police responded to the scene and arrested a man on suspicion of drink driving.
Hadleigh Carkeet, 36, of Well Street in Ryde has been charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
He will appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday 18th May.
It’s unknown if Mr Carkeet got to eat his takeaway – or whether the Big Macs went to waste.

Might as well get a McCopper as a permanent fixture there, there’ll be plenty to keep him/her busy.
Could double up directing traffic also. Money well spent.
Was he arrested on the McDonald’s premises? If so that is not a public road.
How do you think he got there then? Doesn’t matter whether it’s a private road or not he’s still a drink driver so deserves everything he gets.
That’d be McDrinking and driving then..
Well spotted Mc D’s staff, report anyone you think is drunk or drugged, the other two or three you can then safely serve.
Grass……………………
What an absolute plonker!
Back in the day they use to serve root beer, don’t drink and drive, you’re spill it!
Throw the book at him. Drink drivers should be shot on sight. No excuse for putting others lives at risk in that way.
