Regular passengers of Southern Vectis’ Route 6 bus enjoyed a festive treat this month – thanks to driver Jacquline Levy.
Much loved by many of those who travel with her, Jacqueline – from Newport – organised a Christmas lunch for them.
The get together is fast becoming an annual tradition, with the driver and her guests gathering each December at The White Horse in Whitwell.
Jacqueline says:
“I drive the number 6 bus route for Southern Vectis, and I love it. The community spirit among my customers is amazing because many of those who travel with me are regulars, and I very much enjoy their company.
“I’ve driven buses for many years and have never come across such a wonderful group of passengers. I like to do something special for them each Christmas – and more than 40 of us gathered together this year – along with our two doggy mascots Bailey and Ruudie.
“It was a fantastic day, and I’d like to wish everyone I drive for a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year. I look forward to seeing you all in 2019.”
Richard Tyldsley, Southern Vectis general manager, added:
“Our Route 6 bus is a lifeline to many, who rely on it to get out and about. It relies on its base of regular customers – as well as the continued support for concessionary bus travel. Jacqueline’s brilliant efforts are an excellent way to give something back to the local community. She really is a wonderful example to us all.”
