REVISED RED JET TIMETABLE TO CONTINUE UNTIL NEXT MONDAY

Red Funnel has confirmed that its revised Red Jet timetable is to continue until next Monday, as the hi-speed service is still only operating with 1 vessel. Red Jet 7 was due back on the West Cowes-Southampton route last Wednesday, but this was pushed back until Saturday. However, when Red Jet 6 was withdrawn from service due to an oil leak on the port jet unit this morning, Red Jet 7 was no where to be seen. The flagship craft was taken off the Southampton route on 8th January for a scheduled annual refit. A single vessel timetable has been in place since. Red Funnel had to suspend its Red Jet service for more than 10 hours today as it scrambled to bring Red Jet 7 back into service, with the 18:30 sailing from Southampton finally able to sail as planned thanks to those efforts. It has now been confirmed that a 1-boat service will continue until Monday 4th February as the cross-Solent operator works to bring Red Jet 6 back into operation. It means that customers will have endured a revised timetable for almost an entire month by the time 2 boats are back in action. Red Jet 4 remains out of action due to a significant starboard engine failure that occurred almost 3 months ago in early November. No timeframe has been given for her return.
