Red Funnel has announced that it is bringing back its Booking Guarantee for any private vehicle or foot passenger bookings made in December, giving passengers more flexibility and confidence in making travel plans over the holidays.
The announcement comes as the situation with Omicron develops, with the threat of restrictions being brought back and great uncertainty over whether Christmas and New Year plans will be hampered.
The Booking Guarantee is valid for travel between now and 3rd January 2022, and means that passengers will have the following options if their plans change due to the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19:
- Free amendments to any future dates between now and the 3rd January
- Full refund if passengers need to cancel in advance of outward travel
- Option to put booking ‘on hold’ as a credit for a future date
Fran Collins, Chief Executive of Red Funnel, has said:
“We recognise growing concerns regarding passengers having to cancel their journeys for Covid-related reasons. As we move into the busier, festive season, we want to ensure that our passengers have one less thing to worry about by giving them the flexibility to quickly and easily change their travel plans for visiting friends and family over the holidays at a moment’s notice if they need to.”

The Best thing the ferries can do is allow passenger to remain in their vehicle for the crossing
I know that the ferry companies insist on leaving the car deck for safety reasons , but surely
staying in your vehicle is safer for for passengers and the ferry staff !!
Red Funnel has announced that it is bringing back its Booking Guarantee – however, this does not extend to the “operating the boat guarantee”
Dead funnels get out of jail card being played then! Hmm, this’ll be an interesting one to watch indeed. If they valued their staff, invested in their workforce, put people before profit they wouldn’t be in a mess, Covid-19 or no Covid-19 etc.
