Over £26,000 has been raised for the Island branch of Wessex Cancer Trust following this year’s Rainbow Run – Bubble Fun at Sandown Airport.
Just over 700 people took to the 3km course, which included inflatables, powder paint and, new for 2021, 2 bubble stations.
The event was this year held in celebration of Wessex Cancer Trust’s 40th birthday.
Lorraine White, the charity’s Regional Fundraising Manager, said:
“We’re always blown away by the popularity of Rainbow Run and, yet again, Isle of Wight families and businesses came out in full force to support Wessex Cancer Trust on what must’ve been the hottest day of the year so far!
“Despite the intense heat, everyone came away with a smile on their face – and a coating of rainbow-coloured paint!
“Even in these uncertain times, Islanders continue to go above and beyond to raise money for us and we are always wowed by everyone’s efforts and generosity. “We have supported local families living with cancer for the past 40 years and your support will help us continue to be here for the next 40. Thank you so much.”
The provisional total is expected to grow as sponsorship money is still coming in.
