Prolific thief Daniel Kilshaw has admitted further offences of shoplifting just weeks after being released from prison. Kilshaw, of High Street in Ventnor, is once again facing time behind bars after pleading guilty to 2 charges of theft from a shop. Earlier this month, the 43-year-old stole £339 worth of clothes from Sports Direct – a favourite shop of his to target – before nicking £127.99 worth of clothes from TK Maxx just 5 days later. Kilshaw has already racked up a substantial criminal history with 30 previous convictions to his name. He was handed an 18-month prison sentence in September 2022 after stealing a car and crashing it into a wall in Ryde. He was handed an 8-week prison sentence for theft in October last year but went on to commit further shoplifting offences in December. He was subsequently jailed for 8 weeks in January this year. However, by 7th March he was out of prison and went on to commit these latest offences. Kilshaw admitted both offences of theft from a shop when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court yesterday (Wednesday). He was bailed to appear for sentencing on 12th April. A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Police teams are supporting businesses and retailers, and targeting offenders as a priority on the Isle of Wight. “Repeat shoplifting in particular can create an environment of fear for many retail workers. As a result they may feel unsafe in their own workplace. In addition, store owners losing products to thieves means that they not only lose the profit margin, but the entire value of the product. “This in turn can impact prices for consumers”.

He deserves to be jailed,as he got jailed for what he did what puzzles me is why are drink /drug drvers not jailed, theft does not kill people unlike drink/ drug driving !!!!
Agree with drunk/drug drivers being jailed,as you say they are potential killers and even accidents cost us all in insurance, police investigation and court- far more than shop lifting, never heard of store staff dieing from shop lifter?. But this guy also is clear is crying out and cannot cope outside of prison, not sure I could give up a bed, 3 meals, warm environment and people around to talk with – to sleep rough cold and lonely. The Government need to try and find something else to replace prison for non serious or non violent offences.
It’s a shame that prisons are FULL.
They are only full due to huge amounts of recent arrivals filling such
Come on, nothing the courts have come up with has even slightly deterred this guy. We should have much more creative sentencing options like some states in the US. If the court could order that he wears a device to administer a painful electric shock if he tries to enter a shop, his face is dyed bright red and that he must wear a pink tutu every time he ventures outside you would probably stop his offending. He’s not scared of court, he’s not scared of the police and he does not mind prison but I bet he’d mind looking like a complete outcast. Everyone would know what he is, an out of control thief. His crimes cost us all money as the shop losses are reflected in price hikes.
Agree, there others such as not allowed a phone computer car or sky tv. Ba from shops or town centers; everything can be ordered on line, just need someone to do it, or do it at the library. Make them work everyday at something for the community. Just have to think out of the box and prison.
All these highly educated people in power can’t come up with a alternative to locking up. Or a floating bridge that’s functional.
We can train lions, big cats, and grizzly bears with kindness and rewards it must be possible to train people with animal mentality.
Bailed until 12th April for sentencing. Plenty of time for more thuggery then.
Just cut his hands off. That’ll stop him stealing.
So WHY let the unt out then..!!!!!!
Of coarse he keeps stealing, he keeps being let out
Stop putting these stupid comments. What we need to do is increase his benefits so he does not need to go out shoplifting. For example 8 weeks in prison costsaprox£9600 to the taxpayer. If we give him an extra £400 a week the tax payer would be quids in plus no more shoplifting .SORTED.
Ha ha.. am loving the idea ! Unfortunately I reckon your comments will fall on deaf ears around here.. most seem to be bigots and haters …inbred and spitting ‘let’s hang um now’.. makes you wonder..do they do xmas lights ?… do they call themselves Christian?… hmm..
Were not deaf around here, we just seen you coming. If you want Xmas light and God then go to Jerusalem. Don’t stay here.
Yes chuck in a bit of PIP Sorted. I would like to meet the Doctors that give this Pip out all the time to people that don’t need it. This is why were all paying shed loads of National Insurance, Doctors don’t mind, their on shed loads of money, but its all costing us. Sort this S–T out
You give him £400 per week then
Why me? I struggle to get by on my benefits of only £480 a week. You taxpayers should pay it out of your tax and national insurance. I only go to the pub three times a week now because I can’t afford the taxi.
chop off a hand that,s a start
