A prolific shoplifter with over 115 convictions to his name has managed to avoid jail time yet again.
39-year-old Warren Russell, of Green Street in Ryde, appeared before Magistrates on Wednesday (7th December) charged with 7 counts of theft from various shops in Ryde including Poundland, Co-op and Sainsbury’s.
The total value of goods stolen was a total of £575.60, with all offences committed between 4th September and 3rd December.
Guilty pleas were entered for all of the offences the 39-year-old was charged with.
Russell is currently on an 18-month community order as a result of another theft incident. Earlier this year he admitted stealing alcohol from The Co-op on Anglesea Street on 21st October.
The prolific offender has appeared on Island Echo on numerous occasions and has massed up a mammoth record of over 115 convictions, the majority of which are for shoplifting.
He was sent to prison in March 2022 after stealing over £700 of goods from Morrisons in Lake in a drug-fuelled crime spree. But has gone back to his ways since then, committing crimes in July, August, September, October, November and December.
Russell was sentenced to 8 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £575.60.
What a message to all the growing numbers of poor, who don’t as yet steal only for fear of being caught.
A green light to scum with the now truly mitigating circumstances of enduring a poorer standard of living.
Problem is WE all pay for it by higher shop prices, and so the weak court sentences now that we have imported the dross of the world here, will NEVER again be tough enough to jail petty criminals, so, it will be come a lifestyle for many many more people, and WE will fund their crimes.
Disgusting we need to limit immigration and return all those who abuse to make room for our own growing trash.

No, I am saying that NOW we have imported so many unchecked, low end immigrants, many who are criminals, we can no longer jail our own growing criminals for the crimes they ONCE would have been jailed for, as there is no room in our jails now.

The idea of a suspended sentence is that if you re-offend, you are then called to prison to do your sentence. The justice system is not working for law abiding citizens is it

Forgive but not forgetting translates as the recognition of holding the person to account I.e punishing ones crime but to apply the right tool, putting them in prison has quite clearly “perpetuated” this problem. 50 years ago yeah there were a few like this Warren but mostly people like you and wasnt it then that people were saying the same thing? The reason they won’t imprison people for these sorts of crimes is for economic reasons.
It costs £30 thousands a year to imprison someone, double that for young offenders.
Ive never heard any commenters wanting the led ball back. I’d rather as a law abiding citizen know that prisoners aren’t just sat around, labour in this country is low so why not put these people to use. Why spend 30 thousand on incarceration when you can redirect the funds to making the possibility of prisoners to, of course safely and humanitarianly to work, strawberry pricking idk, all under the same supervision they would get on the inside that way tax payers money isnt being totally wasted. You think if people were to commit crimes knowing they will work for nothing would they be so willing? But then there are people who just dont care about our feelings.
