The respected and well praised principal of Sandown Bay Academy, Mr Eric Jackson, has been appointed as the new headteacher for Ryde Academy.
Jackson, who has recently being praised for his strong leadership by Ofsted, has replaced controversial Dr Rory Fox, who has now returned to the mainland. It comes after Dr Fox announced he was leaving the troubled school back in December.
Since being appointed as interim principal in November 2013, Eric Jackson is said to have transformed Sandown Bay Academy with his firm, decisive leadership that has strengthened the stability of the school.
The former education management consultant and transition manager has taken over the helm at Ryde Academy on a temporary basis as Executive Principal, until a permanent principal can be employed with the aim of the position to be filled by the start of the new school year in September.
As an experienced principal herself, Sharon Watt will work alongside Mr Jackson as Head of School.
Ryde Academy came under the spotlight of the national press last due to a number of controversial moves by Dr Fox, as previously reported by Island Echo.
