Praise has been given to Island Roads following a clean-up of a popular pedestrian route in Binstead.
The work has taken place at Ladies Walk, a well-used footpath which had become steep and slippery, presenting a potential hazard to walkers and other pedestrians.
A local resident, who has used the route regularly for many years, said the improvement was the best they had ever seen.
The resident has said:
“I must congratulate Island Roads on a fantastic job of cleaning Ladies Walk, Lovers Lane in Binstead.
“From a steep slippery walk, a hazard to pedestrians and walkers. I have walked this for many years, and never seen it look so good.”

Isn’t that what Island roads operatives are paid to do
for a living.
Wow,is that what they call a roadsweeper?
the close i live in has never seen one of these sweeping the roads, ever!
Same. Disgusting state of pavements and footpaths on also called “tourist” island.
Isn’t the environment so much more useful and pleasant when we get the council services we pay through the nose for? Extraordinary.
I wish they would clear the leaves outside M&S and along the
walkway near Morrisons in Newport
I done know why we pay Council tax or Businesses
pay business rates.
The service is 3rd world
It is a slip hazard waiting too happen!
Some places nowdsys where they have not cut overhanging
branches and bushes it’s getting to the stage people will need to
carry their own shears!
Absolutely agree, it was a pleasure to walk it yesterday, which I do most days.
This year can we have it done after the autumn leaf fall please?
