Poundland has confirmed it will open its 4th store on the Isle of Wight, in Cowes, on Saturday 8th May at 09:00.
The store at 6 High Street – the former M&Co outlet – will create 18 new jobs in the town. At nearly 3,000 square feet, it has a compact layout designed for maximum convenience.
Poundland’s new colleagues in Cowes will offer a range of essentials and day-to-day brands that customers love. Items include groceries, cleaning products, toiletries, health and beauty, stationery, entertainment and PEP&CO Home.
The new Cowes store will complement the existing Isle of Wight stores in Newport, Ryde and Shanklin and like them will be there to support the local community.
Poundland first arrived on the Isle of Wight some 12 years ago when the Newport store was opened by Corrie actor Anthony Cotton. This was followed by a second store in Shanklin and in 2015 customers were welcomed in Ryde.
Austin Cooke, Retail and transformation director, has said:
“We’ve been excited to find another location on the Isle of Wight for some time and are looking forward to opening our doors in Cowes.
“The new store is compact, but it’s going to pack a big punch and play an important part in the local community. It couldn’t be in a more convenient spot and we think it’s going to be a big hit with shoppers, whether they’re residents or tourists visiting this wonderful part of the UK.”

There goes the neighborhood,that store should have been built in sandown where it would have been more appreciated and helped give the high street the much needed boost it deserves,
Just remember you get what you pay for, cheap is never better. Check the size of some of the canned food and bottled drinks, you will find them a little smaller than in other stores, and as for lightbulbs KABOOM on all the ones I ever bought there.
