Plans to turn a former Ryde care home into a 10-bed House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO) have been put forward to the planning committee.
The previous owner of the property on Marlborough Road, which operated as Taunton House care home, had already begun seeking a switch of use before a change of ownership took place.
The most recent use of the property was as a care home for just over 20 years, until earlier this year it closed down with the previous owner applying to change the type of dwelling back to a residential property – ahead of selling it and retiring.
Mr and Mrs Richards, of Thornton Manor Drive, Ryde, have obtained a mortgage in principle for the premises ahead of the proposed change of use to the 10-bed house.
Consisting of 6 rooms with en-suite bathrooms and 4 without, the property sits on a busy A-road in the Ryde and will offer 4 parking spaces at the front of the property to its residents.
IF the Government really wishes to encourage full use of electric vehicles for the masses, then surely, they would have made a ruling by now that every new build and every alteration to the amount of people residing in divided large properties would have to have electric charging points fitted by law?
Seems to me, they know that most will be priced off the road, hence no urgency, panic or reason to insist that new properties or altered ones have to have such installed, as most will be walking or wobbling on a cycle whilst the better people and drug dealers swan past on quite roads.
Not everyone can afford a car even those who are working! Electric cars are even more expensive!
Bet the price per room monthly will be more than renting a flat ! Unless make it for over 65’s… then rent paid from benefits.
And how 10 fits into 4 I have no idea… , Installing electric charging ports, would need parking spaces !! Unless have pay and go type.. imagine the queue’s……
