A former Isle of Wight High Street plumbing supplies shop will become flats according to planning documents.
After nearly 3 years, the Isle of Wight Council has approved plans to turn the ex-City Plumbing Store, on Ryde High Street, into 5 apartments – 2x 1-bed and 3x 2-bed dwellings.
They will be built in the existing building and the shop fronts will replaced.
A condition of the planning permission means work must start within the next 3 years.
Isle of Wight Council officers said the proposals will improve the overall appearance of the building, which is ‘currently tired’ and ‘in need of refurbishment’.
Southampton-based company Questmap, which owns the building, is behind the development plans.
It had struggled to find a commercial tenant to lease the shop since the plumbing supply store relocated.

this is old news they have been building there for months?
The work has already been done.
Started aŕound a year ago so someone has been sneaky
And the council are happy °°°
Because they are getting more council tax to waste …….
the frontage looks so much different than the picture above, think planning rules have been missed somewhere along the way
When was that picture taken, npt within last 12 months, its npt looked like that for ages. Go and take a proper looj as the majority of the work has been completed. Only Crazy Mamas Kitchen side needs doing, which btw IS NOT in this picture. Come on, at least post a recent photo lol
Well this is weird as the flats are already finished and in fact, as I walk in front of them every day, they are already on sale!!
who has been lying then
It sounds like the developers/builders completed the work and then applied for retrospective planning.
