Islanders are being reminded that vaccination appointments are available for residents over the age of 21 at the Riverside Vaccination Centre in Newport.
People aged 39 and under who are eligible and pregnant women will be offered the Pfizer vaccine in line with updated JCVI guidance. Previously, Riverside was only offering the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.
Eligible people should book online at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-vaccine/ or call 119.
It is hoped that over 18s will be invited for their vaccination by the end of the week, as previously reported by Island Echo.
If residents attempt to book online but appointments slots are full, they should continue to keep checking the national booking system as more appointments will become available. People do not have to travel to the mainland for a vaccination appointment unless they choose to do so.
If you receive an invite from your GP, do act on it as soon as possible so that you can join the millions of people who are helping to protect themselves and others.
The Riverside Centre in Newport is open 7 days a week, 08:00 to 20:00 and people can choose an appointment slot best suited to them.
