Emergency services were called to a person in difficulty at Freshwater Bay this afternoon (Wednesday).
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were immediately tasked from their previous job in Shanklin to assist Needles Coastguard Rescue Team and Freshwater Independent Lifeboat to a person in difficulty in the water.
Whilst en route, the coastguard rescue teams were stood down as the casualty had managed to make it ashore.
The casualty was left in the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
