A pan left on the hob sparked a call out to a residential property in Shanklin for firefighters this morning (Wednesday). 3 appliances from Ryde, Ventnor and St Mary’s (Southampton) responded to the address on Carter Avenue, at the junction with Brook Road, at around 11:30, following reports of a kitchen fire. It was discovered by the first crew on scene – Ryde – that the fire was already out, a spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed. The pan was removed from the building before firefighters conducted a home fire safety visit. Crews stood down at just gone midday.
