An Isle of Wight man has taken on the challenge of ridding Newport’s Medina Way of rubbish – and the results are shocking.
Broc Silva has expressed his anger on Facebook about the amount of rubbish that has been dumped in a hedge row running alongside the Island’s only dual carriageway and a footpath popular with local students.
Armed with gardening gloves and black bags, Broc started to remove the mess yesterday afternoon (Friday). As he progressed, the extent of the problem soon became clear – as photographed above.
Speaking to Island Echo, Broc has said:
“It’s filthy, hard work. My arms are covered in scratches but it’s worthwhile.
“I’m planning on doing lots more, for free, but it takes time as I have no equipment”.
It’s thought over 4 black bin bags full of rubbish was collected.
