One person has been taken to hospital as a result of a kitchen fire at a residential property in the heart of East Cowes.
It was just before 18:10 this evening (Saturday) that 2 appliances from Newport were mobilised to Kings Road – off Yarborough Road – to reports of a fire having developed in the kitchen of a family home.
Firefighters from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were quick to respond, but found that the fire was out upon their arrival.
Immediate casualty care was however given to 1 person, who has subsequently been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
They are being treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
The incident is now drawing to a close.
