UPDATED: Police have cordoned off a block of public toilets in Cowes following an incident overnight (Saturday).
Officers are currently keeping a scene guard on High Street, at the junction with Cross Street.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to issue a statement on the matter, although it is thought an assault has taken place.
UPDATE MONDAY – A 23-year-old man from Binstead has been arrested, questioned and bailed on suspicion of rape.
Police have confirmed they are investigating the alleged sexual assault on a woman at sometime between 01:30 and 02:15 during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The unnamed man has been bailed until February.
