The Long Lane Christmas Lights display has been switched on for the 17th time this evening (Saturday), this year in aid of Ability Dogs 4 Young People and Homestart IOW.
Terry and Sue Ramplin invited members of the public to join them for the big switch on at 18:30, with around 100 people turning out for the festive event in cold but dry conditions – a stark contrast to the wet and windy switch on in 2015.
Local businesses have supported the popular annual display including Southern Vectis, HSS Traffic Management, Coast & Country Marquees, Shide Trees, Hamilton Fine Foods, Biltmore Printers and Island Echo.
Last year the charity display raised £4.500 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and it is hoped that this record will be at least matched in 2016.
