UPDATED: Firefighters from Ryde and Sandown are tackling a small fire at iFixLocal in Sandown High Street this morning (Friday).
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at the junction with Albion Road at just before 07:50 after smoke started issuing from the premises.
2 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using hose reel jets have entered the smoke-logged building.
The High Street remains open to all traffic.
UPDATE @ 08:40 – A melted Henry hoover has been removed from the premises. The fire started in the toilet area.
Crews are using 2 Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fans to rid any lingering smoke from the adjoining business, JMP Partnership.
No significant damage is thought to have been sustained and no one has been injured.
The fire has been fully extinguished, however a thermal imaging camera is being used to check for any hotspots.
UPDATE @ 08:50 – 1 appliance from Sandown remains on the scene and is expected to make up and return to station shortly.
The business is expected to remain open as normal, with no stock having been damaged.
