UPDATED: A 47-year-old man was rushed to hospital following a stabbing in Shanklin on Christmas Eve (Saturday).
Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to an address off Victoria Avenue in the town at around 19:30.
An ambulance crew and a rapid response paramedic spent some time at the property before blue lighting the male casualty to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
Detectives from Newport CID later visited the scene as Police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
A 30-year-old man from Newport has been arrested and is being questioned.
The incident came just hours before a man was killed in a separate incident just a few miles away in Ventnor.
UPDATE TUESDAY – The 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm without intent has been bailed until 28th March 2017, pending further enquiries.
