UPDATED: Police are today investigating an attempted sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl in Carisbrooke yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).
The innocent school girl was walking home along a footpath near to her school of Christ the King College when a man asked her for the time before grabbing her and attempting to pull up her skirt – an incident that has shocked and worried parents of children in the area and has left the young victim uninjured, but shaken.
Thankfully, the school girl was able to push the man away and run to safety. The incident occurred at around 16:00.
The suspect is described as white, around 6ft 1ins tall, of average build with a bit of a belly. He is said to be aged late 40s to mid 50s with short, dark brown/greyish coloured very curly hair with bushy eyebrows. He was wearing a brown coat.
Police officers will be patrolling the area this week and offering advice and reassurance to local schools in the vicinity.
This incident comes after a man indecently exposed himself to two 14-year-old girls at Puckpool Park in Ryde on Saturday. Police say they are keeping an eye mind as to whether or not the incidents are connected.
