A 33-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, who were both arrested on Bluebell Meadows in Newport last night (Monday), remain in custody on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.
It was just before 21:15 that Police responded to an address on Wellesley Way, to what has been witnessed as an aggressive and high-tension situation involving a number of individuals.
In total, 7 units were present at the scene.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that the arrests were in relation to an incident on Sea Street in Newport yesterday afternoon.
It’s said that a male was assaulted just before 16:00.
The suspects, both from Newport, have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.
They remain in police custody.
