The couple of the moment, Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter, enjoyed a spot of lunch in a popular local Island pub yesterday (Sunday) after getting married on the Isle of Wight this weekend.
Located just moments away from Mottistone Manor, which hosted the celebrities’ wedding reception on Saturday, the Sherlock Holmes star and his theatre director wife enjoyed a long lunch at The Sun Inn, Hulverstone.
The pub was closed to members of the public for several hours to give the Cumberbatch’s exclusivity of the facilities. The establishment was an obvious choice as it is located around half a mile along Brighstone Road from where the couple said their vows to each other on Saturday afternoon.
With the big day over there was opportunity for the national newspapers to snap the first photos of the newly-wed couple as they left via the back door, which appear in today’s newspapers. Both Cumberbatch and Hunter left in a blacked-out Land Rover whilst crowds looked on, followed by a high performance Mercedes-Benz.
It is unclear if the A-listers will be staying on the Island for their honeymoon or jet setting off to America. It is believed Cumberbatch has been on the Isle of Wight since at least Thursday.
It has been confirmed over the weekend that local firm Island Foods supplied the meat for the big day.
The marriage has been confirmed by agents, who said it was a ‘magical day’.
