Shanklin Town Council has elected Councillor Chris Quirk as its new Mayor, taking over the reins from Steve Knight.
Councillor Susan Godden has been elected as the town’s Deputy Mayor.
High priorities for the new leadership will include supporting improvements in the town’s infrastructure to aid the local tourism dominated economy in returning to normality after the COVID-19 lockdown.
This includes improvements to the toilet provision on the seafront, ensuring restoration of the historic cliff paths, initiating remedial work on the Grade ll Listed Esplanade Clock Tower, refurbishment of the decorative street lights, planting of town’s parks, planters and hanging baskets and help for events and initiatives to support the town’s economy.

Perhaps the councillors could be asked how many meetings (including zoom meetings) they had over lockdown??
I think the answer will be zero – useless lot.
