A compact fluid warming cabinet, purchased by the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital, is proving to be a much-appreciated addition to the equipment in the Emergency Department.
The special cabinet has cost the Friends a total of £4,482, but is worth every penny.
Rosie Jenkins, the department’s secretary said:
“It [the cabinet] replaces one that was so old that it was condemned.
“The new cabinet, which is kept to 40 degrees centigrade, warms fluids such as saline.
“An elderly patient who is admitted could be very cold and it is very helpful if the fluids administered are warm enough. Children also benefit.”
