UPDATE: A motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital this afternoon (Monday) following a road traffic collision on the main Newport to Cowes road.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Newport Road near the military museum at just before 14:20, where it is understood a motorcycle has been involved in a collision – possibly with a lorry.
Traffic is reported to be tailed back in both directions. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Emergency services remain on scene.
UPDATE @ 14:45 – Motorists are being directed to turn around by Police, indicating the road has now been closed in both directions.
Traffic is being diverted via Noke Common.
UPDATE @ 16:00 – The road has now reopened in both directions.
