UPDATED: Morton Common between Sandown and Brading has been closed in both directions tonight (Thursday) due to flooding.
A hard road closure has been put in place by Island Roads as flood water reaches knee-deep in places.
Marshcombe Shute between Yarbridge and Yaverland is due to become two-way under temporary traffic lights whilst Morton Common is closed. Jeff at HSS Hire says the two-way setup may take some time to put in place.
Motorists are being reminded that they pass a road closed sign at their own risk and should follow diversions as marked.
Southern Vectis Route 3 buses will divert via Yaverland until further notice.
UPDATE FRIDAY @ 08:13 – Morton Common remains closed this morning in both directions.
Southern Vectis are reporting delays of up to 10 minutes on their Route 2+3 services due to the diversion.
Meanwhile, HSS Hire are manually controlling the traffic lights on Marshcombe Shute until around 09:00 to help ease rush hour traffic.
UPDATE FRIDAY @ 11:12 – Morton Common has reopened in both directions under two-way temporary traffic lights.
Marshcombe Shute has been reverted back to one-way operation from Yarbridge to Yaverland.
