Morrisons customers on the Isle of Wight are being asked to donate second hand books to help raise funds for CLIC Sargent.
Community Champions Leah Tosdevin, from the Newport store, and Carrie Fineran from the Lake store are doing a fantastic job to support their charity partner, CLIC Sargent and this year have already taken part in a range of successful fundraising from sponsored walks, raffles and colouring competitions.
CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer support charity for children, young people and their families. Last year, the charity supported 15 children and young people from the Isle of Wight who were all under the age of 25.
Leah Tosdevin said:
“We are really grateful to our staff and customers for bringing and buying second hand books where all donations go to our charity partner, CLIC Sargent. We are so pleased to have already raised £1933 in book donations. Please continue to support us by bringing in any second hand books you don’t want anymore, thank you.”
Carrie Fineran added:
“We have just set up an area at Lake Morrisons for second hand books and would be very grateful for any book donations – we have a great selection already, but would really like some more, as they are proving so popular, thank you.”
Liz Blunt, Fundraising Engagement Manager for the Isle of Wight at CLIC Sargent said:
“We are really enjoying working with Morrisons staff and customers and so appreciate all that they are doing. The majority of children and young people from the Isle of Wight require treatment for cancer at Southampton General Hospital, where our frontline professional staff are based. They give emotional support, information and guidance so families feel less overwhelmed. Close by to the hospital is our “Home from Home” where families can stay free of charge to be close to their loved ones. We don’t receive any government funding so are very appreciative of all the amazing fundraising that takes place on the island.”
If you would like to support CLIC Sargent and Morrisons in raising funds to support children and young people with cancer, take your second hand books along to Customer Services at the Newport and Lake Morrisons stores.
