With the COVID-19 vaccination programme progressing extremely well the decision has been taken to offer walk-in vaccinations – with more opportunities now announced in addition to The Riverside Centre.
As previously reported by Island Echo, those over the age of 18 who have not yet had a first dose vaccination are being invited to the Riverside Vaccination Centre between 12:30-18:30 today, tomorrow and on Friday.
Now, additional clinics have been announced for those wanting a vaccination without needing to book an appointment.
- Thursday 24th June and Friday 25th June, Riverside Centre, Newport – 12:30 to 18:30
- Friday 25th June, Westridge Centre, Ryde – from 07:30 to 11:00
- Friday 25th June, Carisbrooke Health Centre – 11:00 to midday
- Thursday 1st July, Carisbrooke Health Centre – 17:00 to 18:00
Michele Legg, Clinical Director for Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group, said:
“Having two doses of the vaccine helps protect you and those around you, so I urge you to get vaccinated.
“A recent study from PHE found that vaccine effectiveness against the Delta variant first identified in India, is similar after two doses when compared to the Alpha variant first identified in Kent.
“The vaccines offered have been tested and are safe for use and offer protection against different variants.”
If you get an invitation letter or text from the National Booking Service or your GP practice, then you can still book a timeslot at one of our vaccination centres, if that is more convenient for you. You can make an appointment by calling 119, visiting NHS.uk or responding to your GP practice invitation.
