The latest specialist equipment to listen to the heartbeat of babies still in the womb is now available to the midwives of St Mary’s Hospital, thanks to the hospital’s Friends.
12 dopplers, costing a total of £5,658, are being used by the midwives at the hospital and in the homes of mothers-to-be.
Deputy Head of Midwifery, Amanda Pearson, explains:
“They are much appreciated replacements to the older and fewer dopplers we had.
“To have the latest piece of equipment, and in sufficient numbers, has made a huge difference.”
