UPDATED: Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision in Calbourne this morning (Monday) that has involved several vehicles.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene on Middle Road outside Calbourne Mill at 08:40 and remain on the scene treating at least one casualty for currently unknown injuries.
A Nissan Juke and a Fiat Seicento have been involved
The incident comes just 40 minutes after emergency crews responded to a car verses pedestrian collision in Ryde.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
UPDATE @ 09:59 – Firefighters from Newport and Yarmouth are now in attendance at the scene, where a female is medically trapped inside a vehicle – believed to be a Police car.
UPDATE @ 10:11 – Fire crews are currently extricating the female from the Police car.
Island Echo understands the woman, a member of the public, was taken from her own vehicle and placed inside the Police unit before complaining of back pain.
UPDATE @ 10:30 – The casualty has been removed from the Police car without the need for cutting equipment to remove the roof.
The road remains blocked.
